DIXFIELD—William S. Elliott, 76, a life long resident of Dixfield, passed away early Wednesday morning in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born July 24, 1938, a son of Stanwood and Dorothy (Bennett) Elliott. He received his education in Dixfield schools and graduated from Dirigo High School. On May 5, 1956, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn (Waterhouse) and together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2009. Bill was employed as a sales representative for Humpty Dumpty for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting (especially duck), fishing, and being on the water at his beloved family camp on Richardson Lake. He was a member of the Webb River Valley Sportsmen’s Club, was a Mason of the King Hiram Masonic Lodge #57, and has been a member of the Dixfield Congregational Church for several decades. He thoroughly enjoyed giving his time to others and being involved in different community events, especially with the Sportsmen’s club. Bill had an outgoing personality with an incredible sense of humor and had the unique ability to befriend anyone. He was certainly loved by all. Bill is survived by his children: Maynard “Zeke” Elliott and his wife Joyce of South Carthage, Elizabeth Friendly and her husband Tom of Charleston, South Carolina, Jeffrey Elliott of Dixfield, and Jennifer Johnson and her husband Glen of Turner; a sister, Judy Couture of Oakland; a half-sister Kathy Cressey of Orrington; 8 grandchildren, Dustin Elliott, Kylie Elliott, Elijah Miller, Samuel Miller, Emily Miller, Ian Raymond, Brandon Elliott and Brianna Elliott; 5 great grandchildren; and a dear friend, David Young. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, his brother Maynard Elliott, and a grandson, Jason Friendly. Remembrance gifts may be given in Bill’s name to the Dixfield Congregational Church, 16 High St., Dixfield, ME 04224. ELLIOTT – died September 24, 2014, William S. Elliott, 78, of Dixfield. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 26 at 11am at the Dixfield Congregational Church, 16 High St., Dixfield, ME, with Rev. John Gensel officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
