Unique Ways to Spread Cremation Ashes

Unique Ash Scattering Ideas

Many families choose to end a loved one’s memorial service with the spreading of ashes. This is a common practice for those who have been cremated, but do not wish to have their ashes kept in an urn.  Spreading cremation ashes is often done by close family members of the deceased, and the scattering of ashes usually takes place in locations that hold sentimental value to the person who has passed.

For some people, ash scattering ideas come to mind almost immediately, but other people may have difficulties deciding on a final send-off for their loved one. Luckily for the people struggling to come up with good ideas, the sky is the limit when it comes to creativity in ash distribution. Here are just a few ideas to spark some creativity.
Ashes can be pressed into a record. A record-pressing company in the UK called “Vinyly” has begun pressing ashes into vinyl records so that their memory can live on through music. Some people have had them pressed into their favorite tracks, and others have had voice recordings of the deceased pressed into the record to preserve the memory of their voice.
If your loved one had a favorite sports team, consider scattering their ashes within the confines of the team’s field/ stadium. This is a common practice for dedicated soccer fans in Europe. Although it would take some work to receive permission to do this, scattering ashes on the field of your loved one’s favorite team is a great way to let their memory live on through their passion forever.
Ashes can be turned into jewelry. This is one of the most uncommon uses of cremation ashes since it is rather expensive. However, those who have a flair for sentimental fashion may want to carry their loved ones with them by wearing diamonds crafted from their ashes.
You can give your loved one an explosive send-off by launching their ashes with a cannon or making them into fireworks. These memorable spectacles are great additions to wakes/ celebrations of life. The cannon would be a nice acknowledgement for somebody who served in the military, and the fireworks a perfect for somebody who simply enjoyed light shows.
Ashes are easily made into art and other keepsakes. Mixing ashes in with paint and other illustrative materials, crafting pottery with ashes, and using ashes to create other crafted keepsakes is becoming a common practice for the use of cremation remains. Some people have mugs made with their partner’s ashes, and other people have ashes incorporated into portraits of their lost loved one. This allows the grieving person to look at something every day that reminds them of their loved one.
