Obituary for Thomas Hersey

LIVERMORE FALLS – Thomas Edward Hersey, “Tom”, 78, of Livermore Falls, passed peacefully of natural causes at his home in Livermore Falls on Thursday May 5, 2011, comforted by his loving family. He was born Dec. 23, 1932, in Lewiston, Maine, the eldest son of Ernest E. and Sadie W. (Washburn) Hersey. He was a graduate of Leavitt Institute and was a proud US Army veteran. Following his military service, he was employed at Bates Manufacturing in Lewiston and DHIA. On Sept. 30, 1960, at St. Rose, he married Georgia Lamb of Livermore, and together they raised three daughters on the family homestead. For over 35 years he was employed at International Paper Company until his retirement in 1999. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Jay and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #320. Tom enjoyed going to the Union Hall to visit with his buddies and he was a proud grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and celebrating their joy. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Georgia, of Livermore Falls; three daughters: Alicia Brown and her husband, Danny of Fayette and their children: Kayla and Willie; Celeste LeBlond and her husband, Lawrence and their son, Allan-Michael Thomas Flagg; and Dolores Schudrowitz and her husband, Casimir and their sons Kyle and Quinlan; five sisters: Marilyn, Frances, Blanche, Connie and Elaine and three brothers William, Harold and Norman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Donald and Richard; three sisters: Eloise, Lois and Dorothy and his grandson, Dwight A. Flagg. HERSEY – died, at Livermore Falls, 5/5/2011, Thomas Edward Hersey, “Tom”, 78, of Livermore Falls. A public memorial mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning May 10, 2011, at 11 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church, Main St., Jay, with Rev. Thomas Lequin officiating. Private family burial at the family cemetery.
