Ruth  Pritchard
RANGELEY, ME-Ruth L. Pritchard, 97, of Trucksville, PA, passed away April 26th at the home of her daughter in Rangeley, Maine. Born July 17, 1916 in Kingston, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. Perkins and Ruth Lewis Perkins. She was a graduate of Kingston Township High School and General Hospital School of Nursing. Ruth was a member of the General Hospital alumni association for many years and, until recently, organized annual reunions for her high school graduating class. On April 9, 1939 Ruth married Vern Eli Pritchard and they made their home in Trucksville residing on Post Rd, Carverton Rd, and their permanent home on Maple St for 68 years. Ruth was involved with many neighborhood and church activities while raising her three children. She was instrumental in the founding of Back Mountain Little League, a Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Scout volunteer, and various church activities. Ruth also worked as a private duty nurse both at the hospital and in private homes for many years before retiring. During retirement, Ruth enjoyed traveling on bus trips with her husband, playing bridge adeptly and reading. She was always involved with a needlework project making many cherished gifts for family members. She was the center of her family and her home was the gathering place for many family events. She was famous for her traditional Welsh cookies. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her loved ones. Ruth was a life member of the Trucksville United Methodist Church, probably the oldest living continuous member at her death. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband of 56 years, Vern E. Pritchard, and a son, Robert L. Pritchard. Ruth is survived by her children Jack A. Pritchard and his wife, Sandra, of Nokomis, FL, and Vernalee Holman, and her husband, Lee, of Rangeley, ME; her daughter-in-law, Judith Pritchard, of Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Cynthia Pritchard, Jack K. Pritchard, Vern E. Pritchard II, Suzanne Doll, Sandra Vernon, and Douglas Bouton; step-grandchildren Gregory Holman and Holly Hendricks; nineteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Trucksville at the convenience of the family followed by internment in the family plot, Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township, PA. Memorial donations in Ruth’s honor may be made to the Trucksville United Methodist Church, 40 Knob Hill Rd, Trucksville, PA 18708.
