EUSTIS-Richmond (Dick) W. Allison, Jr. died Saturday, June 7 at his second home in Eustis, Maine. Born February 25, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Richmond W. Allison, MD and Dorothy K. (MacLennan) Allison of Swampscott, MA. Raised in Swampscott, MA and graduated from Fryeburg Academy, Fryeburg, ME. He received his degree from Paul’s Smith College in Paul’s Smith, NY in Forestry. He also attended the University of Massachusetts (Amherst). His primary residence was in Wolfeboro, NH. He was President and CEO of the Maine Line Company (Drilling and Blasting) located in Wolfeboro and Stratton, ME. He was a member of the Wolfeboro Masonic Temple in Wolfeboro. Dick was an outstanding skier and was a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America for 50 years. He was taught skiing by Hans Schneider (father of Modern Skiing) and his son Herbert in North Conway. Dick taught skiing at Sugarloaf, Cranmore, Lake Placid Club, NY, Witter and Wildcat Mountains. He was also instrumental in establishing the Sugarloaf Ski Club. Dick is survived by his sister Mary Jane Gilbert of Cambridge, MA and brother George K. Allison, Palm Coast, FL. His nephews Hamilton H. Gilbert, Belmont, MA, Dr. Ramsey K. Gilbert, Cambridge, MA and nieces Nicole K. Allison, New York, NY and Sage Allison Kroell, Roswell, Georgia. There will be a Memorial Service at 11AM on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the First Christian Church, 83 North Main St., Wolfeboro, NH followed by a “Celebration of Dick’s Life” directly across the street from the church at the Wolfeboro Inn, 90 North Main St., 1812 Room, Wolfeboro, NH. Please consider a donation in Dick’s memory to the Cummings School Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, 200 Westboro Road, North Grafton, MA 01536. Cremation arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
