MEXICO -- Richard O. Coolidge, "Dick" 80, of Mexico, died peacefully at home Sunday M arch 20, 2011. He was the youngest son of Harry and Alma Coolidge, born Aug, 8, 1930, on the family farm in Dixfield. He received his education in East Dixfield schools and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Dick retired was a retired welder, having worked at the paper mill in Rumford for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling and was a member of a number of organizations related to his passions. In the 1960's, Dick drove the pink "190" at Oxford Plains Speedway and Speedway 95. He was a member of LeParesseux Showsho Club; Rumford and was a life-member of SAM and the North American Hunter's Club. He is survived by his wife, Syrena (Rosenbohm) Coolidge of Mexico; a daughter Janice Coolidge; a step-son, Larry Davis and his wife, Carol of Hermon; a step-daughter, Durita Lynn "Rita" Smith and her husband, Ronnie of Temple; a sister Jean Brann of the Wilton area; six grandchildren: Joseph Davis, Kayla Frye, Durita Lynn "Lynn" Smith, Diane Dunham, Ron Smith, Jr., and William Smith; he was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Phyllis Carter Coolidge; a son, Richard Coolidge, Jr. and siblings: Lester, Chet, and Ken Coolidge; Dot Dakin, Mary Collins and Beatrice Hanson. COOLIDGE -- died, at Mexico, Richard O. Collidge, "Dick", 80, of Mexico. Funeral services will be held Monday May 9 at 11 AM from the Dixfield Congregational Church, Dixfield. Following services, a reception will be held in the church vestry. All are welcome. Committal services with full military honors will be held Monday May 9 at 2 PM at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton. Remembrance gifts may be given to the American Lung Association 122 State St. Augusta, Me. 04330-5615. Condolences and tributes may be shared with his family at www.wilesrc.com. Arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld ST., Dixfield.
