Farmington – Nolan Arthur Thompson, 52, of New Sharon, passed away suddenly Thursday, April 26, 2012. He was born Nov. 4, 1959, in Nyack, NY, a son of James B. and Wilma Grizzle Thompson and graduated from Kirtland Ohio High School in 1978 and from Ohio State University in Columbus, OH in 1983 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by NASA before relocating to New Sharon in 1998. During his childhood, summers were spent with extended family at the family camp on Wilson Lake. He was an avid tennis player and was most recently employed as the assistant tennis coach at Mt. Blue High School. Nolan loved the outdoors and spent much of his leisure time working on and relaxing at his camp on Pease Pond. He will be remembered for his willingness to help put friends or family when needed and for his infectious smile and laugh. He is survived by his loving mother, Wilma of Auburn; a brother, Neal Thompson of Auburn; as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his father in 1983. Memories, photos, and comments may be shared on his memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com. Relatives and friends are invited to call at a memorial visitation Tuesday from 4-6 pm at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. A graveside ceremony will be planned for a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton. The family suggests that those who desire make memorial contributions in Nolan’s memory to the Mt.
