WILTON – Marvin Mayhew Burnham, 79, of Wilton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 10, 2014 in his home. Marvin was born on Oct 16, 1934 in Oak Buffs, MASS., the son of Sherman Burnham and Melba Crowell Burnham Jordan. In his youth, he was educated in the schools of Edgartown, Massachusetts. At the age of 16, he went to sea as a crewman on a private yacht, which allowed him to travel to many places around the world. Following this, he returned to his hometown to work for his father on a construction crew. In 1966, he started the first of what would become many succesful construction businesses thoughout his life. In 1986, he and his family moved to Maine, where he spent the remainder of his life. Marvin was a man of great faith whose quiet trust in God was an inspiration to many. His love for his family, devotion to his wife, and generosity of spirit were expressions of the man of integrity he was. Some of his favorite things were spending time at the ocean, playing his guitar, riding on his motorcycle or in his antique car, woodworking, watching the Red Sox play and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Hanola “Nola” Sylvia Burnham; a son, Clifton Burnham and his wife, Lynn of Rome, Georgia; a daughter, Kimberly Miller and her husband, Gilbert of Wilton; stepsons: Eric Steigelman and his wife, Penni fo Ashburnham, MASS.; and Christopher Steigelman and his wife, Kim of Edgartown, MASS., a brother, Sherman Burnham of Edgartown, MASS.; a sister Virginia Omar of Edgartown, MASS.; and many grand and great-grandchildren. He was predecesed by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Burnham Gravely; a sister, Janette; and a granddaughter Olivia Hope Miller. BURNHAM – died, at Wilton, ME. 10/10/14, Marvin M. Burnham, 79, of Wilton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Oct. 15, 2014, at 1 PM from the Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High St., Wilton, with Rev. Mark Remeika of the Grace Bible Church, Dixfield, officiating. Following services, all are welcome to attend a comfort reception at the home of Gilbert and Kimberly Miller, Magrath Road, Wilton. Private family committal services will be held at the Miller Family Cemetery, Magrath Rd., Wilton. Tributes and condolences may be shared on his memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com. On Wednesday afternoon, following his services, a tribute video honor ing his lifetime may also be viewed on his memorial wall.
