Obituary for Marion Wright

Marion Wright
MADISON -- Marion L. Wright, 87, of Wilton, formerly of Jay, died Saturday April 9, 2011, at Maple Crest in Madison, where she had resided for one week. She was born August 28, 1923, in Chesterville, the daughter of Clifford Ray and Ella L. (Johnson) Farrington. She received her education at Wilton Academy and on Nov. 28, 1942, married Earl Wright in Jay. From 1965-1992, she was employed for SAD #9, and enjoyed working in the cafeteria at both Wilton Academy and Mt. Blue High School; likewise, many students were blessed to have a wonderful rapport with her as well. She was a former member of the Hosmer-Edwards American Legion Auxiliary in Wilton and was a member of the Knights of Pythias where she held several chairs throughout the years. She enjoyed canning and baking and she and her late mother baked homemade bread and donuts, supplying local stores and the Sweden House in East Wilton with their delicious baked goods for many years. Marion's homemaking skills were evident not only with her ability to cook, but to knit, crochet and braid rugs. Friday evenings were not complete unless she and her husband, Earl had dined and danced at the Jay VFW Post. She loved the many cross country road trips, (taking the back roads and avoiding congested city traffic), that she and Earl made to Colorado and to Florida; and, they both enjoyed cruising to the Caribbean and to Bermuda. Playing cards and gambling on the slot machines were other fun activities that she enjoyed with family and friends. A devoted wife and mother, her greatest joy came from caring for her family. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Earl of Wilton; two sons: Rodney and his wife, Diane of Westminster, CO. and David and his wife, Sandy of North Anson; a brother, Merton Farrington and his wife, Beverly of Bean's Corner, several grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her folks, Clifford and Ella Farrington; and two sisters; Gertrude Ramsdell and Maxine Paul. Tributes and condolences may be shared with her family at wwww.wilesrc.com.
