CARTHAGE-Kermit “Reggie” Houghton, III, 34, of Carthage, died unexpectedly, Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home in Carthage. He was born on Nov. 21, 1979, in Rumford, a son of Kermit Reginald Houghton, Jr. and Sandra Carson. Reggie attended local schools, graduating from Dirigo High School in Dixfield in 1999. Reggie worked at Hancock Lumber and most recently at Irving Forest Products in Dixfield. He was passionate about the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, four-wheeling, stock car racing and tinkering on anything he could get his hands on. Reggie is survived by his daughter, Regina Morgan Houghton of Oakland; his mother, Sandra Carson of Lower Burrell, PA; his father, Kermit R. Houghton, Jr. of Canton; his brothers, Ray Freiermuth and his wife, Lisa of Lindenhurst, NY and Christopher Berka of Cheswick, PA; a step-sister, Beth Collins and her companion, Melvin Knox of Carthage; maternal grandmother, Mary “Betty” Houghton and her husband, Emerald of Carthage; step-paternal grandmother, Emily Houghton of Dixfield; nephew and niece, Thomas and Taylor Freiermuth; step-nephew, Spencer Knox; aunts and uncles, Rhonda Storer, Marlene Bradbury, Robert Carson and John Carson, Jr. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Kermit and Thelma Houghton; maternal grandfather, John Carson; aunts, Charlotte Allshouse and Jo Ann Walker. Visitation will be held, 2-4 & 6-8PM, Fri., May 30, 2014 at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld St., Dixfield. Graveside services will be held, 11AM, Sat., May 31, 2014 at the New Newman Cemetery in Carthage with Pastor David Willhoite, officiating.
