FARMINGTON-John Otis Allen, 75, of Farmington, died Thursday afternoon, May 1, 2014 at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. He was born on Sept. 25, 1938, in North Jay, a son of Fred O. and Frances (Duplissen) Allen. He attended schools in West Farmington and Jay before moving with his family to California where he graduated from high school. He returned to California after enlisting in US Air Force, serving for four years. John returned Maine and lived in Strong for several years and later settling in Farmington. He worked at Bass Shoe in Wilton as a younger man, but for the last 20 years had worked at WalMart in Farmington. He was a member of the American Legion in Augusta and enjoyed golfing at the Sandy River Golf Course and visiting with his friends and co-workers at WalMart. John is survived by his children, Lance and Bert Allen, both of Farmington, Patty Gordon of Farmington, Carol Debocco of Gorham, and June Allen of Strong; a sister, Sandra Decker of Farmington; an uncle and aunt; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. A memorial graveside service will be held, 11AM, Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton, with Rev. Brian Rebert, officiating. A time of refreshment and fellowship will be held at the American Legion hall in Farmington following the service. Gifts may be made in his memory to Wiles Funeral Home, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
