AUBURN-Harland A. “Hal” Ladd, 58, of Strong, died late Monday afternoon, June 23, 2014 at the Androscoggin Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer, where he had been continuously surrounded by his children and family. He was born on Feb. 8, 1956, in Farmington, a son of, Alton and Mary (Barker) Ladd. He attended local schools, graduating from Mt. Abram High School. Hal worked his entire life in the logging and excavation business. He had worked with Harry and Tracy Gordon and Bob Thorndike. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking and carpentry. His hard work in life was always in an effort to help support his family and a friend in need. He will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother and friend. Hal is survived by his five children, Bruce Ladd and his wife, Jaime of New Vineyard, Meghan Allen and her husband, Chelsea of New Vineyard, Molly Mitchell and her husband, Chad of Bellevue, NE, Maryann and Robert Ladd of Strong; 8 grandchildren, Nikki, Madison, Payton, Warren, Grace, Quinn, Jake and Cohen; 8 siblings, Cheryl, Jeff, David, Mike, Tim, Alana, Melinda, and Nanette; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Vern and Bruce. Words of condolence and tribute may be shared with his family and friends on his tribute wall at www.wilesrc.com. Memorial services will be held, 2PM, Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service & Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington. Private family interment will be at a later date at the Strong Village Cemetery in Strong.
