Farmington – Cora W. Holman, 93, formerly of Wilton, died early Tuesday afternoon at the Sandy River Center for Rehabilitation in Farmington. She was born on Red Hill in Rumford, April 21, 1918, a daughter of Ira and Cynthia (Paine) Woods and graduated from Stephens High School. In September of 1937, she married Linwood Stearns and they had a daughter, Marjorie. He later died in 1938. In 1940, she married Kenneth Holman and he died in 1989. Cora enjoyed the outdoor sports; snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and especially making items for the Franklin County Fair, which she did for over fifty years. She worked at GH Bass Shoe Company in Wilton for many years, retiring in 1976. She is survived by her granddaughters, Sonia Fish and her husband, David of Weld, Paula Smith of West Farmington, and Rebecca Fortunato and her husband Christopher of Skowhegan; Great Grandchildren, Shain Smith and his wife, Jill of Springvale and Megan and Matthew Fortunato both of Norridgewock; great-great grandsons, Brenner, Teagan, and Quinn Podgurski-Smith. She was predeceased by her first husband, Linwood Stearns; her second husband, Kenneth Holman; her daughter, Marjorie (Stearns) Smith; and her husband, Sheridan, who died on August 8, 2011 and her five siblings. The family would like to thank Sandy River Center for Rehabilitation; a special thanks to the nurses and residents on the Mt. Abram wing for their care and love; also a special thanks to Beacon Hospice for their care and support in Cora’s final days. Private family graveside services will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton. Funeral services are being cared for and provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
