FARMINGTON-Claire Elaine Taylor, 87, of Farmington, died Friday, Apr. 25, 2014 at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. She was born on Mar. 29, 1927, in Palermo, a daughter of, Everett H. and Annabelle (Tobey) McKechnie, Sr. She attended Augusta schools, graduating from Cony High School in 1944. Claire’s working career began in Augusta at the Unemployment Bureau and later at Westinghouse Supply Company. After moving to Farmington, she worked for 13 years as a waitress in local restaurants until starting in the office of the Franklin Broadcasting Corporation in 1964. She retired after 36 years in 2000 and during that time was the first female radio station manager in Maine. She was a member of the Fairbanks Union Church and was very involved with the Franklin County Animal Shelter particularly in the care of dogs, which she loved very much. Claire enjoyed the company of her friends playing BINGO, traveling and trips to the casino. She loved to cook for family and friends and always wanted to be remembered as a good cook. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ibarguen and her husband, Al of Wilton; two grandchildren, Nicole Ibarguen and her daughter, Marissa Nicole Sawyer of Farmington and Miguel Ibarguen and his fiancé, Brandy Durant and their children, Braylin Isabel and Bristol “The Pistol” Taylor Ibarguen of South Paris; a special niece and nephews, Shirley Ann James of Topsham and Tom and Conrad Taylor, both of Farmington; several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alcott “Bill” Taylor in 1989; two brothers, Sonny and Arnold McKechnie; an infant sister, Dorothy McKechnie. Funeral services will be held, 11 AM, Sat., May 3, 2014 at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service & Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington with Rev. Doug Walrath officiating. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Farmington. Gifts may be given in her memory to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
