Obituary for Vernece Seager (Barela)

Canton - Vernece A. Seager, 77, on November 27, 2021 this beloved woman who is now at peace after succumbing to the debilitating and devastating effects of Parkinson’s dementia has left these earthly surroundings to explore the heavenly beyond, at Pinnacle Health and Rehab. Vernice was born in Ainsworth Nebraska May 5, 1944 the daughter of Benito and Verna F. (Anderson) Barela.
Vernece enjoyed doing things with family and friends. She had many adventures such as bicycling and motorcycle trips and even did some train hopping. She spent time writing, traveling, enjoyed great food and laughter, as well as explored palm reading and Tarot cards. She obtained a Master’s degree in Psychology and worked for the postal service, including the appointment of Post Master in Amenia, NY.
Vernece was a sweet soul who lent a listening ear when needed and had a special knack for easing one’s troubles by creating the space for letting them go.

She is survived by her children for whom she dearly loved, daughters: Timia T. Seager of Carthage ME, and Erica N. Seager of New Paltz, NY, and sons Jon G. Seager of Highland, NY, and Jay J. Seager of Yonkers, NY. She also leaves several adored grandchildren: Jon V., Kevin, Noelle, Ashley, and James Seager, and Tianna Wells who gave her a great grandson Isiah Ingham. She had a special fondness and love for her youngest granddaughter Natalia Seager. She is also survived by her brother Chris Barela and sisters Carolyn Sparks, Sharon Bonney, and Marsha Lipprand along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.
She will be greatly missed and forever cherished in all our hearts.
