Obituary for Sue Tibbetts

JAY – Sue Ellen Tibbetts of Jay, Maine went Home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2023 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She suffered for years with lung disease and over the past month was hospitalized due to complications.

She was born on November 19th, 1965 in Farmington, Maine, the first-born daughter of Michael and Marie Tibbetts.
Sue was a 1984 graduate of Jay High School and studied Computer Science at Johnson & Wales University.

She had a fierce love for animals, especially her cats and her favorite puppy, Tippy.

Sue had a vibrant personality. She always had her sassy attitude, quick wit and lit up every room she walked into. She enjoyed looking and feeling glamorous, spending time with her dear friends and gathering with family during special occasions and holidays. While she never had children of her own, she always said her nieces and nephews were all she needed to be happy, and each of us knew how loved we were by her. Above all else, she made sure her parents were taken care of, no matter the distance between them.

Sue will be sorely missed by every person who was privileged enough to know her. She truly was an amazing woman and her absence from our daily lives will not be something her loved ones will get over any time soon.

She is survived by her parents, Michael and Marie Tibbetts of Jay, sister Kathy Offord and husband Jeff of Chesterville, sister Michaele Flanders and husband Peter of South Paris, Uncle Dakota Baker of Jay, among many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Emerson and Dorothy Tibbetts; maternal grandparents, David Baker, Norma and Harold Marks; cousin, Lisa Lopez Guardado; and great-niece Mackenzie Dexter.

Family and friends are invited to Sue's visitation on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 from 3 to 5 pm at Wiles Remembrance Centers, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. A Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date. Family and friends are invited to visit and share condolences in her Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Arrangements and cremation care are under the direction of Wiles Remembrance Centers.
