Obituary for Stacey Blodgett (LaFleur)

DIXFIELD – Stacey J. Blodgett, 58, of Dixfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 26, 2021 after a long, hard battle with Multiple System Atrophy.

She was born in Rumford on March 23, 1963, the daughter of Alexandra “Sandy” Walker (Venskus) and Richard LaFleur. She graduated from Dirigo High School where she created cherished memories with some of her best, lifelong friends.

In August of 1985, Stacey married her first husband, David Smith, and they had two sons, Matthew and Michael. She spent the next decade living in Rangeley where, among other jobs, they managed the Saddleback Inn. She later met the love of her life, Todd Blodgett, and they were married on September 13, 2003. Stacey also gained a stepson, Austin Blodgett, whom she immediately considered a third son of her own.

She was a determined and hard-working woman who started working at the young age of 13; most notably as ‘The Bud Lady’ for Federal Distributors, Sales Rep for Clear Channel Radio, and most recently for Dead River Company, first as a Dispatcher and later as a Training Specialist for the New England region. She loved her work and her many co-workers.

She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends, hosting countless parties and barbeques, traveling, and going to the casinos. As a sports mom, she became heavily involved in the local athletic booster's club and was a key figure in re-establishing high school football at Dirigo. She was known for being the second mom to many of her kids’ friends.

Stacey is survived by her beloved husband, Todd Blodgett, and sons Matthew Smith and his wife Jenn, Austin Blodgett, and Michael Smith; mother and stepfather Sandy and David Walker, brother David LaFleur and wife Sally, brother Chris LaFleur, stepsister Nancy Harvey and husband Bob, stepsister Jean Walker, and stepsister Sharon Vorenkamp and husband David; along with several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She was predeceased by her stepbrother, David “Rusty” Walker.

The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice - especially Barbara, Kori, and Wendy - for your amazing care and support.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, July 10 at 11am, from the Dixfield Congregational Church (Church on the Hill). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the Dirigo Athletic Boosters, 145 Weld Street, Dixfield, ME 04224 or the MSA Coalition, 7918 Jones Branch Drive, Suite 300, McLean, VA 22102.
