Obituary for Sharon Newell

SKOWHEGAN – Sharon Elaine Wuori Newell, 76, of Embden, formerly of Kingfield, died late Saturday evening, Aug. 13, 2022, in the ER of Redington Fairview Hospital.
She was born March 28, 1946, in Kingfield, the only child of Tom and Mabel (Nichols) Wuori. Sharon was a graduate of Kingfield High School and on August 10, 1963 married her high school sweetheart, Robert Newell.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Mabel Wuori; father-in-law, Walter Newell; mother-in-law, Ranita Ryan; and son, Rodney Newell.
She worked as a sales clerk at Ames in Farmington prior to working at Sugarloaf where she sold lift tickets. She later began a long career of working as a secretary, first for RHA and what later became the Mt. Abram Health Center, retiring after 31 years of service.
Sharon, a devoted wife and mother, always put her family first. Her creative energies were seen in her creative cards that she made and in her culinary and baking skills.
Sharon had two very important goals recently; the first was to celebrate the 59th wedding anniversary of she and her beloved husband, Bob; the second, was to attend the Community Center Dinner to see the familiar people who have meant so much to her and her family throughout the years, and in their greatest hours of need. Both of these goals were accomplished last week.
She is loved by her husband of 59 years, Bob, of Embden; their son, Robbie Newell and his wife, Julie of Ladson, SC and their children: Christie Newell Lee and Ali; Jacob, Titus and Bethany; their late son, Rodney Newell’s children with his wife Kim and their children: Meagan Hayes and her husband Orin of Minot and their children Kaelynn, Kylee, Khloe and LeiAnne; and, Mitchell Newell and his wife, Chelsea of Manchester, NH; her daughter-in-law, Kim Wyman and husband, Dana of Strong; her mother-in-law, Cecile Newell; and a host of very close trusted friends whom her family wishes to thank for all of their love and generosity: Jan Welch, Sharon and Joe Hutchins, Pam and Jack Stephens, Christine Demchak and Bob Veneziano, Julie and Bill Redmond, Terry and Richard Cleaver and soooo many more from Maine to Florida, where Sharon and Bob enjoyed 12 years of “snow-bird” living in the Lynnhaven Community of The Villages.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 13 Farmington Falls Road Farmington, Thursday evening August 18th from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, August 19th at 11 AM from the Center. Committal services will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery, Kingfield, immediately following services.
