Obituary for Rose Marie Jones (Vizena)

FARMINGTON - RoseMarie Jones, 87, passed away on November 26, 2023, at her home. She was born in Danver, Massachusetts, on January 19, 1936, the daughter of the late Joseph V. and Alice (Lavoie) Vizena.

She attended school in Danver graduating from Danver Highschool with the Class of ‘54. During her school years RoseMarie was a part of the school Majorette Club. During the summer RoseMarie would go with her family to a camp in Lubec, Maine whereas children she and Robert E. Jones met. They met at the age of 9 and spent many summers together. When Robert returned from the Army the couple were married on January 17, 1955, and started their life together in Massachusetts. An opportunity in Maine led them to leave Massachusetts and start their lives in Wilton and then in Farmington.

RoseMarie was known for being the sweetest, most caring woman. Their son, Bobby was injured in an accident that required him to have constant care, Robert and RoseMarie built their home around being able to provide the necessary care their son needed. Bobby was told he would never walk and with all the love, support and care his parents and family provided…he indeed walked again and that was one of RoseMarie’s greatest achievements. She would give her daughters or granddaughters a call to just check in and see what was happening. If anyone needed anything or they liked something she always found a way to give them a heartfelt gift to enjoy. She was a notoriously good cook; churches would ask for her pies for bake sales. She made the absolute best potato salad, and her famous apple pie and spaghetti. She adored spending time with her family, that was most important to her. Having the family over for Thanksgiving or Christmas so she could cook up a storm of everyone’s favorite foods. They even celebrated “Mother Goody” on New Years Eve, a long-time family tradition. Throughout her lifetime RoseMarie donated to many charitable causes. IF you happened to stop by to visit you might catch RoseMarie watching her favorite soap “Days of Our Lives” or doing a search-n-find or sudoku puzzle hanging with her 4-legged companion – Morty. A long-standing game was the electronic Yahtzee game that sat on the window in the bathroom. So many wonderful memories of times with family and friends, she will be forever in our heart and missed greatly.

RoseMarie is survived by her daughters, Theresa Kimball of Farmington, Judith Gerry and her husband, Bryan of Wayne, Mary Beth Ryder of Harlten, TX and Penny Jones and her husband, Roger Bernier of Lisbon Falls, and her sister, Dot Vizena. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, their son Bobby and her siblings, Frank, Gene, Joe and Bea.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1PM at Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, her visitation will be held from 11 until the time of service. Interment will take place in the family lot in Fairview Cemetery. You are encouraged to visit RoseMarie’s Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com to leave messages of sympathy.
