Obituary for Roland Boivin

Farmington – Roland J. Boivin, 93, of Farmington, died early Thursday morning , January 12, 2023 at Pinewood Terrace. He was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Livermore Falls, a son of Joseph and Alma (Bibeau) Boivin and was a graduate of Jay High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1951-1953. On July 25, 1951, he married Patricia Jones. She died Oct 2, 2017. He worked at International Paper Co. at the Otis Mill and later at the Androscoggin Mill, retiring as a supervisor on #3 paper machine in 1985.

Roland especially enjoyed camping at the Happy Horseshoe Campground. It was there he found chosen family in the owners, Buster and Judy. He made many lasting friendships at the campground. While there, he learned how to craft pack baskets from the ash tree making the splints. He also enjoyed playing cards and hunting.

He is survived by his children; Judie, Jeff, Jimmy (Tracy), Jerry, Jon (Kelly), Jody (Robin), Jill (Mark), and Jason; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild; a brother, Bernard. He was predeceased by a son, Jed; brothers, Armand, Raymond, Philip, Robert; and a sister, Louise Newcomb.

Private inurnment will be at Birchland Cemetery in North Jay. Memories may be shared with his family in his Book of Memories at www.wiles rc.com. Cremation care has been provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
