Obituary for Roger Morse Jr.

Auburn - Roger Wayne Morse Jr., 54, of Chesterville, Maine, passed away on November 3, 2021 in the care of the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, after a courageous battle with stomach cancer.
Roger was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on September 24, 1967 to Roger Sr. and Sharon (Davenport) Morse. After pursuing Culinary Arts at Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton, Massachusetts, Roger joined the U.S. Marines. On Parris Island, he spent six long months in the Medical Platoon nursing stress fractures, and protecting his indomitable spirit. After an entry level separation, he found God and put his hands to work at a little non-denominational church in Haverhill, Massachusetts. There he met his future wife (Debbie), became a Jack of all trades, and a father of one (Nicole). He poured out his love to family and friends through his ministry of food. His love for perfection, in the form of the humble cheeseburger will be remembered by all who partook.
In 2012, he feverishly uprooted and moved to Maine. He landed in “C'ville” with his wife, and was joined shortly by Pokey, the best dog on earth. For the first four and a half years, he forsook electricity and modern conveniences. In his humble quest, he discovered how to rely more on God and how to Love Thy Neighbor.
During the next four and a half years of his tenure in Maine, he zeroed in on his favorite "F" words: faith, family, friends, and food. He was never afraid to let it all hang out, yet still managed to leave us wondering. Always ready to help, Roger made time for the underdog and ensured that everyone was part of the party. His smile shone to let us see his pure yellow personality, his sense of adventure, and lit the way for his fight. He was never afraid trying of new things, starting over, or making mistakes. His way of showing love could be wrapped up in the passionate diatribe of a bible-thumping crazy zealot. If you knew his kind heart, honesty, and generous nature, you just might gain something from his talk.
Roger had a contagious entrepreneurial spirit. We all witnessed him going after Moby Dick in a rowboat and taking the tartar sauce with him (Zig Ziglar). That's how he lived life. He never hesitated to put himself in someone else's shoes or to mediate a situation. Yet, he had an uncanny knack for inserting the same shoe in his mouth moments later.

Roger is survived by his wife of 32 years Deborah, their daughter Nicole, his father Roger Morse Sr., his mother Sharon Hnativ, his brothers and sisters Jennifer, Tara, Rachel, Jason, Spencer, Amanda, and Preston. He is from a very large extended family of loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, step parents, and one VERY sad dog Pokey.

A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Chesterville Town Office at 12:00 noon, followed by a meal. Interment will wait till next fall on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Chesterville Hill Cemetery. For now, Roger would insist that you to sit a spell at your table with family & friends and have some really nice cake and a great cup of coffee. Cremation cared for by Wiles Remembrance Center: Adams-McFarlane Chapel 137 Farmington Falls Rd. Farmington. A kind word may be left in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com
