Obituary for Robert Pond

Temple - Robert D. Pond, 85, of Merritt Island, FL, died early Tuesday Sept 6, 2022 in the care of his companion Ondrea Whinery of Temple after suffering from a stroke on July 30th. He was born in Farmington, Sept. 24,1936 the son of John and Doris Pond. He later married Louise G. Paquette on March 11, 1959. A few years after he and his wife moved to California where they owned and operated a motel with his brother-in law and in 1964 moved back to Wilton where he successfully operated a family business with his wife and two sons that was known as Bob’s Appliance and Furniture
Bob spent summers at the family lakeside cottage in Hartford and winters in Merritt Island, FL which later became his home. Bob enjoyed hunting at a camp he shared with three of his brothers in Starks. While in Maine he enjoyed attending local fairs with his brothers at the racetrack. He also dedicated a full week with his wife Louise and friends at the Fryeburg Fair and they also enjoyed Saturday night dancing with longtime friends.

He is survived by his sons, Robert of Wilton and Cary and his wife, Cindy of Cocoa, FL; grandchildren, Bobbi Jo and her husband, Jonathan, Amber and her husband, Justin, Searah and her husband Dave, Brittany, Courtney and her husband, John, Brianna and her husband, Mac, Kate, and Jenna; siblings, Phil Gendreau and his wife, Beverly of Casco, Burpey Pond and his wife, Nancy of Naples, Emma Reynolds of NH, Richard Pond and his wife, Sharon of Naples, Connie Deering and her husband Rollin of Gorham; his companion, Ondrea Whinery; and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Louise of 53 years and his grandson, Alex Pond, Jan. 16, 2019.

Public graveside committal services will be held Saturday, September 17 at 2 pm at Fairview Cemetery in Farmington. Memories may be shared in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Cremation care and memorial services are being cared for and provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
