Obituary for Randy Hastava

LIVERMORE FALLS-
Randy Paul Hastava
May 12, 1950 - July 20, 2023

My beloved brother has left the plane he graced for 73 years. Wherever his energy may be, he's flying free and breathing deeply. I know I'll see his light with Mom's in every shooting star. Randy called then MOMents. Now I'll have BROments too.

High school Valedictorian and 1972 Dartmouth graduate, Randy excelled in school, but it was his never-ending interest in the world around him that shined. Taking a drive—and we did that a lot—was always narrated with the history of the families and farms, mills, land and roads that we never tired of exploring.

No lane was too small and no highway too big to catch his interest. Hitchhiking across Canada with friends was just another adventure and returning solo was icing on the cake. From Maine to Florida and back to Maine. From Maine to California and back to Maine. A cowboy. A Renaissance man.

After decades working in the hospitality industry in South Lake Tahoe, Randy returned to Livermore Falls and shared a home with Mom (Eldora Hastava) for several years before her passing in 2004. He loved her with all of his being and did his best to honor her. His struggles do not define him.

Randy loved women. And they loved him. Along the way he had several cherished relationships, and it's no surprise to people who knew him that each of his girlfriends remained a cherished friend. Thank you all for your love freely given to him.

Randy was a gentle soul. Behind the handsome scholar and athlete was a compassionate and kind human being — a lifelong champion of the underdog. He loved his friends and family more than he was able to let them know. Each visit was remembered and cherished.

We love you just the way you are Randy. Until we meet again…

Rest in Peace

A celebration of Life (AKA Party!) will be held AUG 26th. Details to follow. If you're so inclined, I'm sure a donation to your favorite animal charity would please him.

Family and friends are encouraged to share remembrances in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Honored to be caring for the family of Randy P. Hastava is Wiles Remembrance Center-Farmington.
