Obituary for Philip Forsman

Dallas Plantation – Philip W. Forsman, 76, of Dallas Plantation, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 19, 2022 at his home. He was born in Palmer, MA, Oct. 3, 1946, the son of Albert F. and Edith G. Ledbury Forsman and graduated from local schools. While taking classes at Western New England College, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, serving during the Vietnam Conflict and served on the Cutter, Casco, before being stationed in Southwest Harbor, ME. Upon his discharge, Philip and his wife, Karen (Samotis) made their home in the Harwich, MA area since the early 1970’s where Philip owned and operated East Coast Form Co., working in all aspects of concrete construction and retired to Rangeley in 2007.
Philip was an avid fisherman, super fly-fisherman, and loved to hunt, especially bird hunting. He enjoyed baseball card and coin collecting and loved to tie flies.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Dallas Plantation; daughters, Heather Joy Forsman of Farmington and Heidi Kent and her husband, Timothy and their children, Ashley and Jessica, all of Cape Cod, MA; a grandson, Benjamin Philip Forsman of Dallas Plantation; a niece, Candace Elizabeth Forsman and her children, Adrianna and Luke of Suffield, CT; He was predeceased by his son, Philip Albert Forsman.
Memorial services will be held in the Spring in Massachusetts. The family suggest that those who desire, consider memorial gifts in his memory to the Travis Mills Foundation, 1002 Watson Pond Road, Rome, ME 04963 which provides veterans and their families a place for rest and relaxation.
