Obituary for Philip Drapeau Sr.

Rumford - Philip W. Drapeau, Sr., 74, of Weld, died Saturday evening at the Rumford Community Hospital due to the effects of Covid-19. He was born in Rumford, a son of Napoleon and Shirley (Swett) Drapeau. He graduated from Mexico High School in 1965. Phil married Rose on February 4, 1967.They raised two children Lisa and Philip Jr.. Philip and Rose owned and operated Phil’s Place, a variety store in Mexico, Maine from 1980 until 1995. He enjoyed serving the many customers he interacted with each day. Lots of laughter was shared while the pizzas were cooking. When Phil wasn’t working he liked to hunt and fish with his son, brothers, and friends. Phil was a strong, determined man who overcame extreme physical challenges to support his family. As a devoted husband, his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his soulmate Purse. It didn’t matter if they were watching a movie or enjoying one of their many adventures; they loved being together. Phil was a dedicated father who did all he could to support his daughter and son. After Phil retired and moved to Weld, he enjoyed spending time with his family, savoring Purse’s homemade cooking, and walking his dog.
He is survived by his wife, Rose of Weld; a daughter Lisa Drapeau of Weld; a son Phil Drapeau Jr. of Dixfield and his wife Brittany; Two brothers, Larry Drapeau of Roxbury and Ray Drapeau of Otisfield; two grandchildren, Logan and Olivia Drapeau, as well as many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Weld in the Spring. Memories may be shared in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Cremation care has been provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
