Obituary for Nancy Welch (Holbrook)

KINGFIELD: Nancy Welch, 79, of Kingfield sadly passed away with her family by her side on November 11, 2023, at Sandy River Rehabilitation Center in Farmington, Maine. She was born in Avon, Maine, on October 31, 1944, to Sam and Shirley (Nichols) Bond Holbrook. Nancy was later adopted by Herbert Holbrook when he married Shirley.

Nancy grew up in New Portland and Kingfield and graduated from Kingfield High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Bruce G. Welch in June of 1963. They raised their three children in the home they built together in Kingfield.

She enjoyed being a mother and housewife. Nancy also worked at Joneco in Kingfield from 1976 – 1983. She was a wonderful cook, making the best homemade bread and biscuits. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, she loved her pets, doing puzzles, word finds, spending time in her gazebo, playing scrabble (she usually won) and going on car rides with Bruce. She was an avid Elvis fan.

Nancy is survived by her dedicated husband of 60 years, Bruce G. Welch and their three children, Paula (Bruce) White of Kingfield, Bruce E. (Cheryl) Welch of Farmington and Jenni (Todd) Brown of Carrabassett Valley; her grandchildren, Bobby, Bryan, Christopher, Aaron and Kia and two great grandchildren. Nancy is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Robinson (Canada), Linda McCurdy (NH), Fred Holbrook (ME), Clint Holbrook (ME), Wilma Smith (ME) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by many family members, but had a very close relationship with her Aunt Elgie, her Grammie and Grampa Chamberlain and her in-laws, Teddy and Clara Bradbury.

Services for Nancy will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family wants to thank Sandy River Rehab Center and the CNAs and nurses of Androscoggin Health for taking care of Nancy.
