Obituary for Nancy Holmes

Farmington – Nancy M. Holmes, 76, of Wilton, died Sunday evening, March 12 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. She was born in Skowhegan, March 4, 1947, a daughter of Gerald Philip and Lorraine (Daigle) Bearor and was a graduate of Madison High School. She continued her education at Thayer Hospital in Waterville studying radiology. After completing her course of study, she worked as a radiologist in Bar Harbor. She later was employed as Head Teller at Maine National Bank in Rumford and had worked in the business offices of Sunday River.

On November 8, 1973, she married Robert D. Holmes, II in Cape Elizabeth. Their time together was full of love, joy, laughter, and adventures off the beaten path. She spent 41 years with the love of her life. He passed on January 9, 2014. After his passing, she moved to Wilton where she loved reading and spending time with her family and her loyal canine companion, “Neil Diamond.” Nancy loved going to her family’s camp at Moosehead to enjoy the wood cook stove and being close to nature. She deeply loved her four grandsons and was extremely proud of them.

She is survived by her children, Kristin Hallowell and her husband Scott of Calais, and Robert D. Holmes, III and his wife, Jami of Wilton; her grandsons, Justin Hallowell, Nicholas Hallowell, Logan Holmes, and Cooper Holmes; her brother, Terry Bearor and his wife, Bonnie of Port St. Lucie, FL.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at Silver Lake Campground in Roxbury. The family suggests that those who desire consider memorial gifts in her memory to the Wilton Free Public Library, 104 Main Street, Wilton, ME 04294.
