Obituary for Minnie Field

Stratton – Minnie E. Field, 77, of Stratton, passed peacefully, Wednesday afternoon with her family by her side at Rumford Community Hospital after a brief battle with kidney cancer. She was born in Stratton, Jan. 10, 1946, a daughter of Hubert and Abigail (Hewett) Hanson. She worked in housekeeping at Sugarloaf Mountain for many years and was a life-long resident of Stratton. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and crafting with plastic canvas. Minnie’s favorite pastime in the summer was tending to her garden and sharing the harvest with her family and friends. Her best times were spent when family gathered at her home; there was always a lot of love and laughter. The love she had for her family was tremendous and she passed on a legacy of love for family, strength, and being grateful for the blessings in life. Minnie will be remembered as being a wonderful friend, welcoming people into her home offering them a cup of coffee or tea.

She is survived by her children, David (Christopher) and his wife, Allison, Daniel and his fiancé, Christie Young, and Melissa; grandchildren, David, Matthew, Kevin, Abbie, Ella, and Destiny; greatgrandchildren, Xander and Abby; a sister, Ruth Lloyd; several nieces and nephews; She was predeceased by sisters, Iva and Linda; and a brother, Raymond.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be considered to the American Cancer Society, Maine Affiliate, Inc., PO Box 350, Westbrook, ME 04092. A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Stratton/Eustis Community Center, 84 Main Street, Stratton on Saturday, July 8. Memories may be shared in her Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Cremation care has been provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
