Obituary for Michael Collins

Michael P. Collins, 80, a longtime resident of Livermore, ME, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 6, 1946 in Livermore, the son of Sylvio and Grace (Roy) Collins. He was educated in the Livermore Falls schools. On February 27, 1965 he married Florice Moore of Farmington, they made their home together in Livermore for 55 years until her passing on July 10, 2020.

Mike worked in the shoe industry for over 50 years and was the Maintenance Foreman for both Livermore and Farmington Shoe Company, loved and respected by all of his coworkers. His life’s hobby and passion was being an auto mechanic. He and his son, Scott, enjoyed all forms of auto racing, as well as building, and repairing cars together. He had a remarkable reputation for his skills; if it had an engine, Mike could fix it.

He is survived by his son, Scott Collins and wife Dawn of Jay, daughter Stephanie Couture and husband Peter of Farmington, grandchildren Michael Couture, and wife Kaitlyn, their daughter, Kyrin of Oakland, Christopher Couture of Strong, Kelly Couture of Vienna, Jonathan Couture of Farmington, Lisa Couture of Farmington, Sarah Collins of Gorham and Chelsea Lowell of Jay. His sisters Nancy Dostie of Livermore Falls, Norma Rice and husband Jim of California.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and siblings; Justine Swenson, Hortense (Fifi) Collins, Patricia Erb, William (Billy) Collins, Maurice Collins, and Raymond Collins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the residence of his daughter Stephanie, in Farmington on August 21st, 2021 at 4:00 PM. Arrangements are cared for by Wiles Remembrance Center 308 Franklin Rd. Jay. A kind word may be left in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com
