Jay – Mary Ann Miess, 88, of Jay, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, November 20, at her home in Jay. She was born in Rochester, NY, on April 22, 1934, a daughter of Michael and Rose (Petix) Vaccarelli, and received her education in the Rochester School system and received voice lessons at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. On April 10, 1954, she married the future Reverand Philip K. Miess in Rochester and they made their home in several areas over the years following his pastoral calling, before retiring in Jay. He died on May 10, 2016.
Mary loved all people and was non-judgmental. She was known for having a dry sense of humor, never holding a grudge, reading her Bible, and devoting time with the Lord daily. She was active in the churches where her husband served over the years and will be remembered as being a great cook, a Red Sox, and a Patriots fan, and loving all of her family.
She is survived by her children, Philip Miess and his wife, Teri of Jay, Dale Miess and his wife Natalie Mary of NJ, Dennis Miess of Jay and his wife, Monina of Randolph, NJ, Christina Shenise and her husband, Mark of NJ, Michelle Solsky and her husband, Stanley of Jay, and Daniel Miess and his husband, Kelly of AZ; 15 grandchildren, Philip and his wife Sarah, Laura, Katie and her fiance, Ricky, Erin, Kristy, Jaime, Megan, Ashley, Emily, Katelyn, Danielle, John and his wife Maria, Denine, Jason and his wife Austyn, and Bethany; numerous great-grandchildren Samantha, Brooklyn, Ruth, Elijah, Vivienne, Aidan, Rowan, Ian, Isaac, Natalie, Olivia, Emma, Alissa, Henry, Benjamin, Logan, Zachary, Nora, Gavin, Wesley, Grayson, Calvin, Isabelle, Mackenzie, Rylan, Ellie, Adelyn; she was predeceased by siblings, Angela and Michael.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at 11 am from the Emmanuel Assembly of God, 4 Fayette Road, Livermore Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the services at the Church. Interment will be at 2:30 pm at Webster Cemetery in Farmington.
