Obituary for Marion Gould (Marks)

Marion Frances, 86 of Belgrade, ME, beloved wife of Joseph Gould was called home into the arms of her blessed father surrounded by her family on Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023 after a long illness.

Marion was born in Beverly Massachusetts on April 20, 1936, to George and Viola Marks. She grew up on the North Shore of Boston. She Graduated from St. Mary’s High School and then went on to pursue a career in Nursing. She graduated from Salem Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 with an RN degree. She rose to the position of Director of Nurses at the Rosewood Nursing home. She used her training not only in her chosen profession but also to care for several family and friends who ultimately lost their battle with cancer.

She met the love of her life Joe on a blind date back in 1962 and a year later they were married, they celebrated 59 years of marriage this past October. She was a devoted Catholic and she never lost her faith even during her last days. She went to church every Sunday until she could no longer make the trip.

Her greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother and especially a grandmother. She was fiercely devoted to her family and was proud of their many accomplishments. She loved traveling with Joe and spending her summers on Ossipee Lake with her family. Upon retirement they moved to the East Coast of Florida and lived there for 20 years before moving back to the North East. While living in Florida she volunteered at the local church pantry. True to her nature even in retirement she was always helping her neighbor. She loved her Sunday dinners with family and friends and you could always count on a pot of mashed potatoes and gravy at every Sunday dinner.

Marion is survived by her devoted and loving husband Joseph, daughters Gloria (Alex) Perez of NH, Mary (Michael) Dalton of MA, and Joann Domey, of Maine. Her grandchildren, Amy (Kevin) Rozell, Heather Mccormick, Douglas (Carly) Stevenson, Joseph Stevenson and Samantha (Matthew) Fernald.
