Obituary for Marcia Smith

Weld - Marcia A. Smith passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 26, 1936, in Wilton a daughter of Elwood F. Hiscock and Addie (Knowles) Hiscock, the sixth of their eight children.

Marcia was predeceased by her third husband and the love of her life, Perley Smith; Robert Haley, Sr., her second husband; siblings: Merrill Hiscock, Robert Hiscock, Leander Hiscock, Gilbert Hiscock, and Elizabeth Vining; her children, Robert Haley and Rickey Haley; and her grandchildren, Treva David and Jimmy Tripp. She is survived by her children, Carol (Danny) Proctor, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Barker, Cindy (Mark) Rollins, Terri Maxwell, Susan (Lynn) Sylvia, Kenneth Smith, Wendy Haley, and Olivia Lake; her brother, Joe (Gilly) Hitchcock; her sister Marie (Omer) Smith; her first husband George Barker; 30 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Her love for her family knew no bounds and that love was deeply reciprocated. Marcia had an impressive work ethic—whether that be through her work at Foster Manufacturing, where she retired from—her role as a loving mother or whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen for family and countless family gatherings. She was well known for her infectious smile and adventurous spirit. In her free time, in addition to being up for wherever the road might take her, she also enjoyed shopping and trying her hand at games of luck. Her memory, no doubt, will live on in those who she has left behind. Those who knew her best believe she is hitting the dance floor with Perley once again.

The family send their eternal gratitude to Carol and Danny Proctor for the unwavering care they provided to Marcia at the end of her life’s journey.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 11 am at Mountain View Cemetery (Byron Rd., Weld, ME), immediately followed by a celebration of life at Carol and Danny Proctor’s home (147 Temple Rd, Weld, ME).
