Obituary for Leo Boyce

Auburn - Leo Boyce, 88, of Kingfield, died early Thursday morning at the Androscoggin Hospice House surrounded by the love and support of his family. He was born in Kingfield, Oct. 16, 1933, one of 9 children born to James and Beulah (Blanchard) Boyce and received his education in local schools. He was drafted into the United States Army and while in the Army, married the love of his life, Patricia Walker when she surprised him on a visit to Virginia. They settled on Long Island, where he raised his family with his wife, owned a gas station for a time, and also worked at Queens Screen Company, manufacturers of windows and doors. He then followed his love of the ocean, and became a commercial fisherman until his retirement. After the passing of his wife in 2016, he spent more and more time at his log cabin that he built in his hometown of Kingfield, where he enjoyed reconnecting with his brothers and sisters as well as his love of hunting and fishing with his family in the hills of western Maine. As of late, Leo enjoyed fairs and horse races with his brother John (Trapper). He also enjoyed contentious afternoon card games with his card shark brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra and her husband, Gregory Epilone, Sr. of Eastport, NY and Pattie and her husband, Bill Pirozzi of Mastic, NY; 2 granddaughters, Alison and her husband, Anthony Boccia of Eastport, NY and Abigail Penney and her wife, Andrea Savello of Wilton; great grandchildren, Gregory Epilone, III., Adleigh Boccia, and Anthony Boccia, III.; siblings, Gene Boyce, Mary Tague, Harold Boyce and his wife, Judy, Louis Boyce, Tom Boyce and his wife, Sharon, John Boyce and his wife, Faye, Polly Rackliff, and Peggy Hanson and husband Aaron; many nieces and nephews; He was predeceased by a grandson, Gregory Epilone, Jr.; sister's-in-law, Grace Boyce and Eileen Boyce; and a brother-in-law, Buddy Rackliff.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, Feb 28 at 12:00pm at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 43 Main Street, Center Moriches, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington on Saturday from 1-3 pm.
