Obituary for Kenneth Ellquist
NEW PORTLAND – Kenneth Keith Ellquist, 76, of New Portland, passed away on October 25, 2023, at his home.
He was born on April 4, 1947, a son of Keith Charles Ellquist and Rosemarie Ann (Berganski) Ellquist.
Kenneth served in the Army and was stationed in Korea and the United States. He worked for American Airlines for 35 years working in cargo and as crew chief in the mailroom at O’Hare Airport.
When he was in better health he enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, and nature. Ken loved his faithful dog, Piper. He enjoyed family, friends, and Facebook as well as mowing on his riding mower and chasing his wife around the house (his words) as he got older.
He is survived by his loving wife, Iola Mae Ellquist, his children; Jennifer Naughton, Daniel Ellquist, and Robert Ellquist; stepchildren, Cheryl Ann Remele Thyng, Alan Remele and his wife Robin, Susan Remele Wolfe, and Darlene Remele; a sister, Tomyann Ellquist Guenther; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as well as 2 nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents; stepchildren- Beverly Jo, Jerry and Vicki Lee Remele; and mother-in-law, Erma Nile.
Private interment will take place in North New Portland Cemetery, New Portland, ME.
