Obituary for Jane Drottar (Hogan)

LIVERMORE - Jane Hogan Drottar 82 of Livermore lost her battle with cancer on Feb 21 at the D’Youville Pavillion in Lewiston. She was born in Riley, Maine on March 10, 1940, to William and Florence (Gagne) Hogan. The family later moved to Jay where she was raised with her two older brothers Terry and Danny, Jane was educated in the Jay school system and enjoyed competing in sports and being involved in many school activities.

She furthered her education at Pierce Secretarial school in Boston by working as an in-house nanny in Weston Mass. After graduation she worked for Houghton Mifflin Publishing Co at secretary to the Art Director. She married Jerome Drottar at St Mary’s Church in Wilton on October 6, 1962. They returned to Jay to work at the newly built Androscoggin Mill settling on Macomber Hill where their two children Thomas and Anne-Marie were born.

She loved her home and family which was apparent as soon as you walked through the door. Because of job relocations she led a busy lifestyle establishing homes and adapting the family to a new environment at several locations. She was involved in the construction of 3 new homes and the rebuilding of two others. She had a talent for choosing the right fixtures decorations and colors. There was no job too big for her. A resolute beach bum she would be near the water during the summer. An enthusiastic football fan she enjoyed watching the Sunday games especially the New England Patriots.

In later years she worked at several McDonalds in West Mobile and was well known by many as the McDonalds Lady in that part of town. The manager said she was the only person that he ever interviewed that asked all the questions.

She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Florence Hogan, brothers Terry and Danny Hogan a niece Christie Hogan an Aunt Jean McKee of St John, New Brunswick. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Jerome Drottar, son Thomas Edward of Cumberland, daughter Anne-Marie Cornelio and husband Sean of North Jay, grandchildren Matthew and Lauren Cornelio, Kylie and Luke Drottar and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 11AM from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 1 Church Street, Jay. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4 to 7pm on Tuesday, February 28 at Wiles Remembrance Center - 308 Franklin Road, Jay. A luncheon will follow after the Mass. Burial will take place in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery. Words of remembrance may be shared in her Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com.
