Obituary for Henry Hodgson

Rumford - Henry M. Hodgson, ‘Hank’, 94, of Dixfield, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022.
Henry was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on January 5, 1928. He was the son of Henry M. Hodgson, Sr. and Esther (Forbes) Hodgson. He was a 1946 graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River and thereafter joined the United States Marine Corp in service of his country. Henry was married to Dorothy F. (Roberts) Hodgson of Weymouth, MA on 9/16/1950. Hank was a wonderful husband and father to his children and his grandchildren. He loved to take the family camping during the summer and on trips to Florida to see his parents during the winter school vacations. He was a huge sports enthusiast, coached little league baseball, and was an avid New England Patriots fan.

Following his military service, he studied to become a master plumber. He was self employed for many years until accepting a maintenance position at Clifton Rehab Nursing Center in Somerset, MA. He had many wonderful memories of his time spent at Clifton. Hank was a very hard worker and meticulous in his workmanship. He had a great sense of humor, a twinkle in his eyes when being mischievous, was a wonderful story teller and had a terrific memory until the end. Hank was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

Upon retirement, Hank and Dot moved to Daytona Beach, FL for 20+ years and were dedicated members of the First Baptist Church-Harbor Oaks. They made many new friends in Florida and enjoyed an active social life. Family and friends from New England were welcomed to their Florida home during the winter months and they enjoyed traveling to New England during the summer months.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Dot; his son David Hodgson and wife, Joy, of Dixfield; his daughter Donna Cambra of Dixfield; and his daughter Debra Aucoin and husband, Thomas, of Brewer; grandchildren Milissa New, Caryn Burgess, Allen Hodgson, Allyson and Erin Aucoin; great-grandchildren Syeira, Logan, Leia and Ella New; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Hodgson of Dartmouth, MA in 2021.

Henry will be greatly missed by his family and friends!
