Obituary for Gerald McLean

Canton - Gerald A. McLean, 58, of Canton died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon at his home. He was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, April 1, 1963, a son of Willard C. and Marilyn L. (Geldart) McLean. He grew up in the Poland area and attended Edward Little High School before entering the US Army Reserves. He continued his education at CMTC, where he was named Student of the Year for his academic excellence, was President of the Student Council, and named to Phi Theta Kappa. He was employed at Poland Spring Bottling for many years as a maintenance mechanic and also at Randy's and Morris' auto parts in Auburn.
Gerald had a special way of seeing good in all people and making them feel like family. He loved playing cribbage and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Tina of Canton; children, Ian McLean (Rebecca) of RI, Linden Mercadante (Anthony) of FL, and Carl McLean of Poland; step-children, Dean Hinkley II (Amber) of Rumford, Sara Dean (Joe) of Sabattus, Ashely Hinkley of Livermore, Stacey Hinkley of Vassalboro, and Anna Odom of Canton; siblings, Dale McLean of BC, Alan McLean of Auburn, Bill McLean (Tiffany) of Monmouth, John McLean (Andi) of Topsham, Marcia McLean of AL, and James McLean of Canton; 15 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; He was predeceased by his father in 1995.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at Fortin Group Funeral Home, Turner St., Auburn, Wednesday October 6th, from 4pm to 7pm, open to friends and family that would like to pay their respects.
