Obituary for Evelyn Pierce

Portland – Evelyn W. Pierce, 97, of Farmington, died Sunday at Maine Medical Center in Portland as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was born in So. Brewer, March 12, 1925, a daughter of Peter A. and Lillian (Blackman) Wood and graduated from Brewer High School in 1942. On Nov. 21, 1945, she married Alfred Pierce and they made their home in Attleboro, MA for many years, before relocating to Farmington in 1997. He died June 11, 2007.
Mrs. Pierce worked at Lambert’s Engraving in Attleboro, MA for many years, and was a volunteer with the Franklin Memorial Auxiliary. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and enjoyed bowling at Meadow Lanes Bowling Alley in the Incredible Senior’s League. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble and Yahtzee with her family.
She is survived by her children, Anne Marie Sornberger and her husband, William of Peace Dale, RI, Dorothy Pierce of Farmington, ME, Peter Pierce of Attleboro, MA, Susan Jolie of Lewisville, NC, Stephen Pierce and his wife, Jennie of New Vineyard, ME, Sharon Young and her husband, David of Benton, ME, Daniel Pierce and his wife, Christy of Warwick, RI, Judith Charron and her husband, Theodore of South Attleboro, MA, Linda Pierce of North Attleboro, MA, and Christine Pierce of Woburn, MA; 19 grandchildren, Peter, Jr., Charles, Jonathan, Whitney, Kelsey, Scott, Nathan, Heather, Ellen, Adrian, James, Teddy, Renee, Lily, Thomas, Sonja, Audrey, Ryan, and Todd; 12 great grandchildren; She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington on Monday, Jan. 16 from 3-5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 17 at 10 am from St. Joseph’s Church, Middle Street, Farmington with Father Paul Dumais as Celebrant. Interment will follow at 1 pm at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
