Rumford - Evelyn Joyce Averill, 80, of Averill Hill Road, Dixfield, died late Saturday morning at the Rumford Community Home. She was born in Rumford, Oct. 29, 1940, a daughter of Leonard and Julia Russell Lemay. She received her education in Mexico schools and worked in the cafeteria at Dirigo for many years. In 1959, she married Lynn Thomas Averill and they made their home in Dixfield until his death in 2014. She enjoyed the camp on the river and family get-togethers.
She is survived by her son, Greg and his wife, Tammy of Dixfield; daughter, Beth Averill of ME; 6 grandchildren, Jenny, Seth, Amanda, Samantha, Macklyn, and Bailey; 11 great-grandchildren with "one on the way." She was predeceased by a son, Glen; and siblings, Leonard Lemay, Lorraine Buckingham, Pauline Arsenault, and Jean Knowles. There will be a Celebration of Life for Evelyn's family and friends on Saturday October 23rd at the Eagles Club in Rumford Maine from 1-4pm.
