Obituary for Edward LaPointe

Farmington - Edward John LaPointe age 69 of Wilton, passed peacefully to his eternal home with his wife and children by his bedside at FMH on May 24th.

Born to Wilfred & Jeanette (Beaulieu) LaPointe in Bad Kreusnach Germany while his father was stationed during the Korean War. Coming stateside as an infant. He grew up in Lynn, MA and was the oldest of six siblings. They moved to Georgetown, MA Where he met the love of his life Holly (Wills) and began a life of adventure with her by his side for 50 years.

Early in their marriage, they attended New Tribes Mission Bible Institute. During that time of training they were blessed with two children. Their intentions were to follow the commandment of Christ to preach the gospel in Indonesia, but God had other plans and they settled in Georgetown, MA where he was active in the First Baptist Church holding the positions of Sunday school teacher and deacon.

As a young boy, he and his family spent many happy summers at his grandparents home on Brettuns Pond, so the move to Maine as an adult with his own family was like returning to his roots; eventually building their dream home on Sand Pond in Chesterville, while he and his wife ran the Village Market in North Chesterville for nearly 17 years. His final earthly home was in Wilton where he came to be known as the “yearbook” guy. He sold yearbooks from all over the world as well as other items in his EBay shop.

Ed was always up for an adventure, as he would explore places near or drive south to visit family and friends. Being a man of strong faith in his Lord, he displayed a deep devotion to his family, and friends.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Wilfred & Jeanette. Ed will be missed by his wife Holly of Wilton, and their children Renee Manns of South Carolina and Jonathan (Jaime) LaPointe of Buckfield ME He also leaves behind his siblings Gary (Susan) LaPointe of Epping NH, Tom (Elyssa) LaPointe of Belfast ME, Kathy (Tom) White of Groveland MA, Patti (Joey) Walsh of Kingston NH, Sandie (Art) Mawson of Derry NH, plus eleven grand children and six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from Bean’s Corner Baptist Church in Jay, June 4th at 11am, with refreshments following. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Beans Corner Baptist Church 17 Chesterville Road Jay, ME 04239. Memories may be shared in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Cremation care has been cared for and provided by the WIles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
