Obituary for Donald Marquis

Jay - It is with great sadness that we announce that Donald A Marquis of Jay, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Donald was born on March 25, 1939, in Stockholm, Maine. He was the son of Henry and Desneige (Guerette) Marquis. He attended Lewiston High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1958.

On September 2, 1961, he married the love of his life, Anita, who he adored with all his heart. They made their home in Jay Maine and raised five children. Don was a dedicated husband and father, taking great pride in his children’s accomplishments and always offering encouraging words during difficult times. He loved to take the family on trips to the beach, camping, Santas Village, Storyland and mini golfing at Tabers.

Don was employed by Sampsons Supermarket, Hannaford, International Paper and eventually retired at General Electric. He had a reputation for having a solid work ethic, outgoing personality and positive attitude.

Don enjoyed being outdoors and could be seen regularly working in the yard, tending his gardens, picking apples at the local orchards and walking his dogs Bowser, Benji and most recently Leo. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler in his younger years. He was a faithful NY Giants fan who also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Bruins from his comfy chair in the living room. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities.
Don’s kindness, outgoing personality and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Anita (Leclair) Marquis, his sons Scott and companion Michelle Cyr, Ricky and Debra of Monmouth, David of Jay and companion Kaylieana Lopez, Tony Cerrato of Jay, and daughter Diane and Shawn Foss of Jay, Grandchildren Evan (Jasmine) of Auburn, Alyssa(James) Ireland of Auburn, Breanna (Stevie) Ray of Minot, Cody (Amelia) Gallagher of Winthrop, Matthew of Monmouth, Cody (Mariah) Mitchell of Raymond, Connor and Sophie Foss of Jay and 7 great grandchildren along with his brother Dennis (Helene) of Warren Brother in-law Robert LeClair of Lewiston sister in-law Theresa Marquis of Auburn and sister in-law Jeanne Wentworth of Lisbon.

He was predeceased by both his parents; brothers, Armand, Norman and Henry, and his sister Greta. The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care provided to Don and his family.

A celebration of Life for Donald will be held at Fitness Stylz, located at 17 Depot St Livermore Falls. From 1-4pm on March 3. Anyone wishing to attend please use the rear entrance.
