Obituary for Deborah "Captain Debbie" Ryder

RANGELEY, Maine / FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida -

On October 13, 2023, Deborah Spanks-Ryder, mother, grandmother, friend, and soul sister, left this earth and is now shining her light and laughter down upon all of us.

Deborah was born in Quincy, MA on July 14, 1953. It was here that her love for sailing started. Her passion and sense of adventure took her around the world where she spread so much love and knowledge to all those she encountered. After retiring from being a yacht captain, she spent her time between her home in the mountains of Rangeley, Maine and with her sons in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

She leaves behind her children Heidi Colello and her husband Anthony Colello and their children Teagan Schultz, Grady, Delia, and Adeline Colello, Weston “Bud” Ryder and his wife Kelly Ryder, and their son Weston Ryder IV, and Morgan Ryder.

She will never be forgotten and loved forever. Love, Laughter, and Peace~

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the US Junior Sailing Program (https://www.ussailing.org/about/annual-fund/).
