Obituary for Colleen Hayford (McPherson)
Colleen Vivian Hayford, age 86, passed away on August 29, 2020 at Franklin Memorial Hospital, in Farmington, Maine with her family by her side.
Her journey began October 21, 1933. Born to parents Almon Alphonzo and Ruth Bernice (Nason) McPherson in Chapman, Maine, but quickly moved to Presque Isle, Maine where she graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1952. 1953 was the start of her working for New England Telephone Company and ended when she retired in 1984.
Colleen has always loved genealogy. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she would spend hours of her time working in the family history center helping others find their ancestors.
Colleen’s other loves were reading, long walks, and playing with her doggies. Most of all, her greatest joy was being a mother, a grandmother, and great grandmother. Spoiling her great grandchildren was something she loved to do.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Embleton (Hayford) and her husband Merle of Wilton, her son Michael Hayford and wife Heather of New Hampshire, 3 grandchildren, April Walker (Embleton) and her husband Rory of Wilton, Chris Embleton of Wilton and Heather Spencer and her husband Bryan of Pittsfield, grandchildren of her heart Ericka Embleton (Toothaker) and Cory Arsenault, and her 10 great grandchildren: Alexis, Emily, Logan, Hailey, Emma, Noah, Abby, Autumn, Lexi and Eben. She is predeceased by her mother and father of Presque Isle, and older sister Edwina Van Luven.
Cremation cared for by Wiles remembrance Center: Adams-McFarlane Chapel 137 Farmington Falls Rd. Farmington. There will be no memorial Service or visiting hours per her final request.
