Obituary for Charles Adams

Jay - Charles G. Adams, 70, of Jay, lost his 5-year battle with melanoma at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, September 10.

Born on February 5, 1951, in Farmington, Charlie was the second of four children of Eleanor & Charles Adams of Wilton. He was a proud member of the last graduating class of Wilton Academy in 1969. He attended Unity College and graduated in 1972. He worked at the paper mill in Rumford for 40 years, where he was a hard worker and never took a sick day for 23 of those years.

He was proud to be a US Army veteran. He married his wife, Deb, and after his military service, they moved to Bethel, where they raised their family. He was active in the Bethel United Methodist Church, the Cub Scouts, and coached baseball. In 2003, they relocated to Jay.

He loved spending time at camp on Moosehead Lake and nothing made him happier than fishing with his guys. Charlie also loved hunting, snowmobiling, the Red Sox, was a lifelong Green Bay fan and, most of all, his family. He was an amazing father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Deb, of 51 years; son Jason of Portland; daughter Jennifer and husband Michael Clark of Readfield; son Tim and wife Rachel of Fayette; grandsons Nathan & Alex Clark, and Ben, Josh, and Zack Adams; sisters Eileen Adams and husband Frank Maccarrone of Wilton; Elizabeth and husband Marvin Demers of Nags Head, NC; Hester Mayo of St. Petersburg, FL; in-laws Skip & Marie Thompson of Jay.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles & Eleanor Adams.
