Farmington - Audrey Barbara (nee Wooley) Smiley was born on August 30, 1933, in Belmont, Massachusetts, to Thomas Vernon Wooley and Thelma (nee Clark) Wooley. Audrey and her family moved to Starks when Audrey was a small child. Audrey graduated from high school in Oakland, in 1951. On October 13, 1952, she married Philip Lawrence Smiley of New Sharon. Audrey and Philip had two children; Philip Thomas Smiley (Janelle) and James Lawrence Smiley (Terrie). Audrey worked at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington as a laboratory technician and phlebotomist for 27 years. Audrey was an accomplished pianist, violinist and artist and greatly enjoyed her garden, dolls and travel. Audrey played the piano for and taught the children’s church classes. She was very involved in her church, the Farmington Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was known for her humble selflessness, her love for Jesus, and her love for family. Everyone loved Audrey and Audrey loved everyone.

Audrey was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Donald Robert Wooley and David Vernon Wooley and her husband of 63 years, Philip Lawrence Smiley and daughter-in-law, Nancy Jane (nee Fuller) Smiley. Audrey is survived by her sisters, Geraldine Thelma (nee Wooley) Farmer and Lucille Edith (nee Wooley) Smith, her stepsiblings, Kenneth Wooley, Marcia Wooley and Neil Wooley, by her two sons, a daughter-in-law, Deborah Ladd, four grandchildren--Andrew (Alexandra), Sherrie (Philip), Jennifer, and Kristen (Philip), six step-grandchildren Noel, William, Mitchell, Abigail, Briann and Amanda, five great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, Maine. For those unable to attend, livestreaming will be available in Audrey’s Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. The family would like to express their appreciation to Franklin Memorial Hospital’s staff for their loving care of Audrey.
