Obituary for Allen Dyer

WEST FARMINGTON – Allen T. Dyer, age 71, of West Farmington, died unexpectedly o natural causes at his home Monday Feb. 21, 2022. He was born Nov. 25, 1950 in Farmington, a son of Donald and Cora (Goff) Dyer. He received his education in Kingfield schools and was in the last graduating class of Kingfield High School before the schools consolidated becoming Mt. Abram High School.

Allen proudly served his Country in the U. S. Army during Vietnam. When he returned home, he continued his education at the University of Maine, Farmington where his interests were in geology.

He married Judith Holley on June 18, 1983 at the Fairbanks Union Church. He was a custodian at the Farmington Community Center for a few years before working for H. G. winter and Son, in Kingfield, where he was a dowel machinist for many years. His hobbies included vegetable gardening and he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labors with those in need. Allen was a member of the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church and took great comfort from reading his Bible. He was an animal lover and adored the family kitties: Sadie, Matthew and Fluffer-Nutter. He also enjoyed fishing and taking trips to the coast with his wife of 38 years, Judith, who survives him. He is also survived by a sister, Joy Dyer of Kingfield; several nieces and nephews.

Public memorial graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 24 at 1:00 pm at the New Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd. Annex, Augusta with military honors provided by Camp Keyes. Remembrance gifts may be given in his memory to the Franklin Cty. Animal Shelter 550 Industry Rd., Farmington, Maine. Tributes may be shared in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Cremation and memorial services are in the care of the Wiles Remembrance Center, Farmington.
